IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM CITY OF NEDLANDS
Last week, environmental health officers from city of Nedlands carried out their regular inspections at the Mt Claremont Farmers Market and the issues that they encountered are:
- Many stalls at the market did not set up the marquees securely with weights. =>This issue needs to be fixed immediately from this Saturday 2 March
- Electrical wires were not safely covered and could potentially pose hazards and danger to patrons => This issue needs to be fixed immediately from this Saturday 2 March
- Many foods businesses didn’t follow the proper food safety standard (handwashing, food handling, labelling, storage and couldn’t present permits upon request. => Therefore they have let related food businesses know and this issue needs to be fixed immediately. If you have any difficulty in getting these issues fixed, please make sure you contact with the health officers to negotiate timeline.
As they want us to improve the way the market run to a standard, the health officers will be back next Saturday and make sure improvement will be made and all these issues are taken into action seriously.
We request all stallholders must bring anchor weights for their marquees on this Saturday and from NOW ON as the condition to trade for our market. Lorna will check and make sure this will be followed. Stallholders who don’t comply this, will receive warnings.
All food businesses must follow the city rule and regulations on food acts. Failure to comply with the food act could result on a penalty or trade pause.

Please make sure all signature and shop equipment or products are placed within designated area. You will need to have valid public liability insurance to cover any risks caused by you and your staff at the market.
All electrical equipment must be tested and tagged.
Anchor weights must be used to secure your marque(s) for windy days , especially when wind speed is forecasted more than 20 km or more.
If you see anything unsafe to customers or yourself at the market, please speak up. Thank you for your cooperation.
